about Souplesse Oblige
The webshop Souplesse Oblige has been online since October 2011. The name is a pun that varies on the phrase 'noblesse oblige' (bound by nobility).
You owe it to your limberness as a dancer or yogi to dress as elegantly and captivatingly as possible. Flexible and graceful with style!
I have received my RYS200 Yoga Alliance certified teacher training from Yogalife, led by Manoj and Sanjeev Bhanot. I can highly recommend this yoga TTC. I have also done 50 hours of yin yoga teacher training with Joe Barnett, a senior student of Paul Grilley.
I teach hatha and vinyasa flow classes at At The Park in Deurne and at WezenbergFit in Antwerp. Click here for more information about my yoga classes.
Online shopping from your couch is great, but you can also visit us and try on the sportswear at our showroom in Deurne near Antwerp. You can drop in on Wednesdays from 1 till 7 PM. If you would like to visit another day - during the week or weekend - contact me to maken an appointment; you can e-mail me at email@example.com or call the number 0472 593839.
At the computer, surrounded by - and wearing - the wonderful sportswear, is me Heidi Wittevrongel. My first passion is dance. This love for dance originated in the eighties: Michael Jackson, Flashdance and Fame were my first source of inspiration.
I picked up the necessary jazz dance technique here in Belgium by taking classes with Martine and Anick Van Dam, Peter Kongs and - the pioneer of jazz dance in Belgium - Jac Delsing. The Fedes summer intensives in Bruges were a challenge but I wanted to go further.
After a fantastic summer dance workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico I took the plunge and moved to the US to study dance: modern dance, flamenco, African dance, choreography, anatomy, dance history…
My teachers during my BFA in Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico were amongst others Bill Evans, Elizabeth Streb, Bella Lewitzky, the Mexican dance company Antares... And I had lots of opportunities to perform. After my four years at college I spent one more year in San Francisco, working as a lighting technician and dancer.
It’s not easy making a living dancing. I worked for the magazine Humo for eleven years, first as an editorial secretary and later as web editor, until the time was right for this online store. In the mean time I kept dancing, teaching dance classes and choreographing, mainly at Dance studio Kriskin in Turnhout.
In 2014 – doing a simple turn - I tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus of my right knee in dance class. After two operations and two years of rehabilitation with the team of Lieven Maesschalck at Move to Cure I'm back in shape. There was a time I could not surrender myself to dance and that's when I discoverd my second passion: yoga. In order to immerse myself in the world of yoga I enrolled in the yoga teacher training at Yogalife.
